Thanks for the comment, Mel! I know several men who went to prep schools who have read this book. Surely, it's "chick lit," but I think the setting is one that appeals to anybody who has been to a school like that.

Wow! I've almost finished the book; started 2 nights ago. I couldn't put it down. Not to say that all of the book was good, and I agree with you on how the transition between Lee-at-Ault and the Lee-who's-narrating is not so smoothe. I would regard it as a book suitable for girls in their 20's (I am 18 and female); I find it interesting that you've picked it up!

I actually think the draft is underrated. There are no Lebrons or KGs or Kobes, so that's bad. And the bottom of the lottery isn't strong. But I think there will be a lot of very good players in this draft. Way better than the infamous 2000 draft featuring #1 pick Kenyon Martin. The best players in that draft were K-Mart (#1), D-Miles (#3), Mike Miller (#5), Jamal Crawford (#8), Joel Pryzbilla (#9), Quentin Richardson (#18), Magloire (#19), and Michael Redd (#33). That's a grand total of two all stars and barely any other good players.

I find the previous comment pretty disturbing and, frankly, offensive. After looking at the commeter's blogs, I'm not entirely sure if he's serious or not.

I of course reserve the right to remove comments here; this is a forum for me to express my ideas, not for anybody else to do so. Nonetheless, in the interest of an open discussion, I will leave the comment up for now.

I hate to see "no comments" after an interesting post about the death penalty. I watch Bill O'Reilly every day unless I forget. The fact is that real-life imprisonment is a cruel and unusual punishment and a (Chinese-style) bullet in the back of the head is much more merciful for cruel shit who bury a child alive or etc etc etc.

We ought not to torture them as they tortured the innocent because they were once innocent new-born babies but were (in most cases) brought up cruelly and, whilst this is no excuse for their not getting their ass in gear after their childhood of abuse, it is just the merciful nod to the fact that society let them down and we have not right to torture them in return for their cruelty. (Some are born aplha male assholes, of course.)

As to the death penalty, society's killing the vile, the matter of right (positive, creative, constructive) action on the part of society hardly arises. Society is a work in progress. Until we fix up the environment for new citizens by interfering in parental protocols, conselling robustly (no ifs and buts, good-cop/bad-cop style) the morons good at breeding and nothing else, we will just have to tidy up the mess.

THE PURPOSE OF THE DEATH PENALTY IS TO TAKE VILE FILTH OUT OF CIRCULATION SO THEY WILL NOT TORTURE AGAIN, AND NO SENTIMENTAL SELF-RIGHTEOUS "I CAN FORGIVE ANYTHING -I AM AM SO GOOD" SOCIAL WORKERS CAN LET THE FILTH OUT TO DO IT AGAIN.

[...] I wasn’t going to talk about Michelle Malkin again, but it’s just necessary to make this observation.
